My path to graphic design began in a research lab—and took an unexpected turn with a handmade candle.

After studying molecular biology and working in medical research, I began making candles for friends and family. That experiment became ROOM candles, and introduced me to the world of branding, packaging, and design.

I taught myself the design tools, developed the packaging and marketing materials, and discovered a new direction. In September 2001, I founded Melissa Grim Consulting.

Since 2013, my work has included graphic design for aerospace proposals and technical communication. I collaborate with subject matter experts to translate complex concepts into clear visuals, from proposal graphics and presentations to exhibition displays.
